Daily Journey with God
It is a wonderful journey to live life with God. Work through these steps and find others who are also on this journey. Share with them your joys and frustrations. Be patient and continue to seek God with your whole heart. You will be eternally blessed!
1. Tell Someone
Share your commitment to Christ with another Christian who can help you begin to learn God’s wonderful plans for your life.
2. Read the Bible
Through the Bible, God gives His wisdom, guidance and encouragement.
Bible Reading. Read it every day. In fact, try to read it all the way through. It takes only ten or fifteen minutes a day to read it through in one year.
A good plan for reading your Bible – Start by reading the book of John in the New Testament. Then go back to Matthew and continue reading through to Acts. Now read the story portions of the Old Testament, beginning with Genesis; then read the New Testament all the way through. Finally, begin at Genesis once more and read through the whole Bible.
3. Pray
You are now a child of God and He loves to hear from you. Allow times of quiet in your prayers so that you can hear from Him too.
4. Find a Church (We invite you to join us at Galloway Church.)
You will find great strength, support and fellowship spending time with others who live their lives following Jesus.
5. If You Fail
Ask God for forgiveness just as you did the first time. He will always forgive you – but you should determine, through His strength, not to fail again.
6. Ask God for His Spirit
If you ask, the Holy Spirit will empower you to do God’s will. His Spirit will guide your life with truth and wisdom. Through the Spirit of God you will find strength for each day and hope for the future.
Answers to some questions you may have:
What if I prayed for Jesus to be in charge of my life but I don’t feel any different? Does that mean it didn’t work?
No, in Revelation 3:20 it says that if anyone invites Jesus into his heart He will come in. Everyone is made a little differently and our response to becoming a follower of Christ will not be exactly the same.
Being a follower of Christ gives me life forever in heaven after I die but what does it do for me now?
Being a follower of Christ gives you purpose. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “for I know the plans I have for you… plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Being a follower of Christ gives you the strength to do right and to avoid evil. God will make our paths straight (Proverbs 3:6), will teach us and direct us in the way that is best (Isaiah 48:17) and provide a way out of temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13).
Being a follower of Christ places you in a relationship with God. God loves us more deeply than we will ever know. He gives comfort in times of sadness (2 Corinthians 1:3-4), safety in times of danger (2 Thessalonians 3:3) and strength in times of weakness (2 Corinthians 12:10). God will never leave us nor let us go (Joshua 1:5).
