Receiving God
The Bible says, “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.” Acts 16:31
The Bible also says that God is Love (1 John 4:8) and He wants the best for us. (Matthew 7:11) But we cannot receive all God has for us because our sin gets in the way. (Romans 6:23)
What is sin? Sin is disobeying God’s ways. Sin is thinking, saying or doing anything that is wrong. Sin causes hurt, suffering and sadness. It separates us from God and from other people. So, how can we receive life and peace if our sin blocks the way?
The answer is Jesus. (John 14:6) Jesus lived a perfect life. He willingly died on a cross, accepting the punishment we deserve for our sinful choices. When we accept that Jesus did this for us and commit our lives to being led by Him then we can receive all He has for us. (2 Corinthians 5:21)
You can Become a Christ Follower by:
1. Admit that you are a sinner.
Every person has said, thought or done something wrong in his life. From the Bible: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”, Romans 3:23
2. Repent of your sin.
Repentance is feeling sorry for having sinned and having a great desire to turn away from the act of sinning. To turn away from sin means turning toward God. From the Bible: “If we confess our sins Jesus is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins…” I John 1:9
3. Believe in Jesus.
Realize that God loves you so very much that He allowed His Son, Jesus, to die for your sin. From the Bible: “God so loved the world that He gave His one and Only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
4. Receive Jesus into your life.
Ask Him through prayer to come into your life to be your Savior and Lord. From the Bible: “…if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart God raised Jesus from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
5. Talk to God
“Dear God, I know I am a sinner. Please forgive me for the things I have done wrong. I believe that Jesus died for my sins. I want you, Jesus, to come into my life right now and be my Savior. I want to follow you and obey your Word. I want you to be the Lord and Master of my life forever. Amen.”
If you prayed a prayer like this and meant it in your heart then…
